Why Sydney Drivers Choose the Tesla Wall Connector

It’s not just for Tesla owners — though if you do drive a Tesla, it’s pretty much a no-brainer. Here’s why we recommend the Tesla Wall Connector for so many Sydney homes:

  • Power Management features for multi-EV households (more on this below)
  • Made by Tesla — proper engineering and worldwide support

Tesla Wall Connector Power Management

This is a feature most people don’t know about, and it’s a genuine differentiator. The Tesla Wall Connector includes three Power Management features that let you charge faster without expensive electrical upgrades:

Fixing Upgrading and Installing Without the Hidden Fees

Static Power Management

During installation, we set the maximum charge level to match what your home’s electrical system can safely handle. This lets you install the charger without needing a switchboard upgrade in many cases.

Fixing Upgrading and Installing Without the Hidden Fees

Dynamic Power Management

With a Tesla-approved power meter, your Wall Connector continuously monitors total household power use and adjusts charge speed in real time. When your dryer and oven are running, the charger slows down. When they switch off, it speeds up. You get the maximum charge rate possible without ever overloading the supply.

Fixing Upgrading and Installing Without the Hidden Fees

Group Power Management

Got more than one Tesla? Up to 6 Wall Connectors can share power across a single circuit. Perfect for two-Tesla households or homes that want to add a second charger later without running new cabling.

How We Install Your Tesla Wall Connector

The Tesla Wall Connector is a hardwired charger — it can’t be plug-in installed. That means a properly licensed sparky is mandatory (and Tesla agrees — your warranty depends on it). Here’s our process:

Site Assessment

We check your switchboard for capacity, look at your preferred location, measure the cable run, and confirm whether you have single-phase or three-phase supply

Switchboard Prep

If your board needs a switchboard upgrade or new dedicated circuit, we’ll quote it upfront, never as a day-of surprise.

Mounting and Cabling

Wall-mount the Wall Connector indoors or outdoors using Tesla’s recommended mounting method.

Power Management Configuration

We configure the Static Power Management settings during install to match your home, optimising charge speed without needing a switchboard upgrade where possible

Testing and Handover

Full charging session with your EV, walk-through of the Tesla app and features, and handover.

Compliance Certificate

Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW) for your records, insurance and Tesla’s 4-year warranty

    Tesla Wall Connector FAQs

Yes. The Tesla Gen 3 Wall Connector includes a Type 2 connector that works with every EV sold in Australia — Tesla, BYD, Polestar, Kia, Hyundai, MG, Volvo, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and more. You don’t need to drive a Tesla to use it. Some advanced features like full app integration work best with Tesla vehicles.

Up to 22kW on three-phase power, adding around 70–75km of range per hour for Tesla vehicles. On standard single-phase power (most Sydney homes), it delivers up to 7kW — about 50km of range per hour. Real charge speed depends on your EV’s onboard charger.

No. The Tesla Wall Connector is a hardwired device that requires a licensed electrician — Tesla explicitly requires this for warranty validity, and in NSW it’s legally required. DIY installation will void your 4-year warranty.

Tesla offers a 4-year residential warranty on the Wall Connector — best-in-class for its price point. Our installation is also fully insured and includes a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work.

Honestly, only in a limited way. The Tesla Wall Connector doesn’t have built-in solar diversion like the Zappi or EVnex. If specifically charging from solar is important to you, we’d recommend looking at Zappi or EVnex instead.

Yes — and Tesla’s Group Power Management feature lets up to 6 chargers share a single circuit. This is far more cost-effective than running new circuits for each charger, and ideal for multi-EV households.

Tesla’s online store currently requires you to be logged into a Tesla account that owns a Tesla vehicle to purchase one directly. However, we can advise on alternative purchase routes through trade channels — give us a call and we’ll talk you through your options.
